Past Projects

 

“Dance around the world” (Dance exchange project London-Amsterdam)

 

NICOLA (New International Company Of Live Arts) hosted an exchange program from the 9th to the 17th of April 2010, where 15 young artists from London, met 15 young artists from Amsterdam, to engage in a variety of activities, focused on researching music and dance and the way it is used in different cultures.

 




 

Chelsea Youth Festival

NICOLA (New International Company Of Live Arts) delivered this festival by involving the three Youth Clubs (Earl’s Court, Chelsea and East Chelsea). This festival used visual and performing arts based on the theme of HEALTH to showcase the talents and initiative of young people. The event began with performances from several DJs and bands held on the main stage. A series of free interactive workshops in music, dance, acting, circus acrobatics and visual arts were held, with opportunities for youngsters to sample a variety of art forms in a relaxed atmosphere.

 


 

Earl’s Court - NICOLA Youth Day (July 11, 2009)

In collaboration with Earl’s Court YMCA, NICOLA (New International Company Of Live Arts) has conducted an arts festival event for young people to celebrate and promote the arts and encourage young people’s involvement in these forms of artistic expression. The event began with performances from several DJs and bands held on the main stage. A series of free interactive workshops in music, dance, acting, circus acrobatics and visual arts were offered in a relaxed familial environment.

 


 

Street Life Arts (fall 2008 - spring 2009)

This was the first project conducted by NICOLA (New International Company Of Live Arts), which fused music, dance and drama, and was the voice of young people expressing their feelings about issues surrounding gangs and crime. Extracts from STREET LIFE were presented to audiences at community festivals during summer 2008, and the whole project ended with a production performed on the 26th of April 2009 at the Cochrane Theatre, which was free to attend.

 


 

Beyond Pedestrian

Beyond Pedestrians is an experimental theatre company lead by young people. This developing project hopes to encourage young people to watch fresh and relevant theatre. The Patron, Nabil Elouahabi, a British Moroccan actor, best known for his role as Tariq Larousi in EastEnders from 2003 to 2005 supported the project in conjunction with Youth Clubs, Youth Associations and Housing Associations.
